For the CEO Seat: Mid-Market Australia

Claude AI for Australian CEOs and Managing Directors

You make 30 to 50 non-trivial decisions a week, read material faster than you can absorb it, and write to chair, board, customers, and team in voices that have to sound right. Claude does not replace any of that. It compresses the time you spend preparing so that you spend more time deciding.

We have rolled out Claude for CEOs and Managing Directors of 20 to 200 person Australian businesses across services, professional firms, multi-site retail, and mid-market manufacturing. Most reclaim 8 to 12 hours per week within 6 weeks, the equivalent of a full extra day in the diary for the work only the CEO can do.

Why Claude Specifically (and Not Just Any AI) for the CEO Seat

For executive work, four properties of Claude make the difference between "useful for emails" and "the most leveraged hour of your morning".

1M token context for whole board packs

Claude Opus 4.7 takes up to 1 million tokens (roughly 750,000 words) in a single prompt. A full 200 page board pack, the last four quarterly reports, the strategic plan, and the chair's pre-read questions can all sit in one conversation. Nothing slips through the cracks.

Conservative posture, admits uncertainty

Constitutional AI training means Claude is more likely to say "I would not rely on this number without verifying" than fabricate a confident wrong answer. For a CEO who is held to account on every figure quoted, that posture is the feature you want.

Excellent long-form writing in your voice

Claude is widely regarded as the best general-purpose model for writing. Once it learns your tone (3 to 5 prior memos is usually enough), drafts come back sounding like you, not like generic AI. Chair letters, all-hands talking points, customer apologies, board narratives.

Projects: your strategy in one shared knowledge base

Projects let you pin your strategic plan, brand voice, customer profiles, prior decisions, market intelligence, and key relationships in one place. Every conversation starts with that context loaded. Your EA can use the same Project. Direct reports too, when you choose to extend access.

A Day in the Life of a Claude-Using CEO

Composite drawn from real CEO routines we have helped embed. Not every CEO uses every slot, but most settle into 5 to 7 of these within the first 6 weeks.

6:30am

Morning briefing

What Claude does for you: Reads overnight news, AFR/Fin Review feed, your industry watchlist, and produces a 1-page summary with 3 things you should know before standup.

7:15am

Read the board pack

What Claude does for you: Takes the 40 to 80 page board pack, produces a 2-page executive summary with the 5 questions you should ask, the 3 risks not yet flagged, and a quick sense check on the financials.

8:30am

Pre-meeting brief on a key customer

What Claude does for you: Reads your CRM history, last 12 months of email correspondence, contract terms, and prior account reviews. Produces a 1-page brief: relationship status, open issues, what they likely want from this meeting.

10:00am

Decision memo on a hiring choice

What Claude does for you: You describe the two candidates and the role. Claude drafts a structured decision memo: pros, cons, risks, references to check, salary band benchmark from public data, recommended decision with reasoning.

11:30am

Market scan on a new geography

What Claude does for you: You ask about expansion into Adelaide. Claude produces a 3-page market brief: market size estimate, key competitors, regulatory differences, talent pool notes, the questions you would put to a local advisor before committing.

1:00pm

Long email from the chair

What Claude does for you: A 3-page email from the chair on governance changes. Claude summarises in 5 bullets, drafts a measured reply that acknowledges the points, agrees with two, pushes back politely on one, and proposes a 30-min call on the third.

2:30pm

Talking points for all-hands

What Claude does for you: You give Claude the quarterly numbers and three themes you want to land. It drafts a 12-min script in your voice with a strong open, three honest acknowledgements, and a forward-looking close. Ready in 8 minutes instead of 90.

4:00pm

Review legal contract and flag concerns

What Claude does for you: A 60-page commercial contract. Claude flags 7 non-standard clauses, explains each in plain English, suggests negotiation positions, and tells you which two clauses your lawyer must look at before signing.

5:45pm

Reflective journal on the week's decisions

What Claude does for you: A private space to think out loud. You speak the week's 4 big decisions into a transcript. Claude organises the reasoning, surfaces patterns, and asks you the harder follow-up questions a good mentor would ask.

Six Executive Briefing Pack Examples

Saved as templates in your Claude Project. You ask for one, you get a polished first draft in under 5 minutes.

M&A target one-pager

Public information on a potential acquisition target distilled into a single page: revenue, headcount, customer base, ownership, recent news, strategic fit, integration risks.

Competitor profile

Public materials, news, hiring patterns, product changes synthesised into a profile: positioning, recent moves, where they are vulnerable, where you are vulnerable to them.

Market entry brief

New geography, new vertical, or new segment evaluation. Market size estimate, regulatory scan, competitor map, talent considerations, and the 5 questions to put to a local advisor.

Customer escalation summary

A multi-thread, multi-stakeholder customer crisis condensed into the timeline, the open issues, the commercial exposure, and a recommended response sequence.

Board narrative draft

The story you want to tell the board this quarter, structured as a 5-paragraph narrative with the data points that support each paragraph and the likely chair questions you should pre-empt.

All-hands talking points

A 10 to 15 minute script in your voice, with a strong open, honest acknowledgements where things did not go to plan, and a forward-looking close that gives the team something to rally behind.

What CEOs Typically Ask in the First Month

Eight high-leverage starting points. Most CEOs add 4 to 6 of their own within 90 days.

1

Board pack summary every cycle

Single highest-leverage use. 90 minutes saved per pack, every time.

2

Reply to long emails from chair, investors, key customers

Drafts in 30 seconds what would take 30 minutes. You polish.

3

Pre-read brief before any meeting with a key stakeholder

You walk in 10 percent better prepared, every time.

4

Decision memos for any non-trivial choice

Forces structured thinking. Claude pushes back if your reasoning is thin.

5

Talking points for all-hands and town halls

Faster drafts, in your voice once Claude has 3 to 5 prior examples.

6

Read and explain commercial contracts before signing

Plain-English summary, flagged risks, lawyer-must-see list.

7

Quarterly business review prep with each function head

Pre-meeting brief: what their numbers say, what to probe.

8

Personal journal and weekly reflection

A private thinking space. Many CEOs say this is the surprise high-value use.

Risk and Governance Considerations

Five areas any sensible CEO AI policy must address. We draft the 1-page CEO policy as part of every engagement.

Data confidentiality

Use Claude Team or Enterprise (NOT free or Pro) for any business work. Anthropic does not train on Team or Enterprise data. SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, ISO 27001, ISO 42001 certified. Treat the privacy posture as comparable to a senior management consultant under NDA.

Board paper handling

Board packs and pre-read material can be loaded into Claude on Team or Enterprise plans. Avoid loading material that is genuinely market-sensitive (eg unpublished M&A terms, unreleased financials) into any external tool until you have verified your firm's policy. We help write that policy.

Customer PII and commercially sensitive data

Where possible, mask names and account numbers when the substance does not require them. For genuine privileged or regulated material, use Claude Enterprise with admin audit logs enabled.

Strategic decisions still belong to the CEO

Claude is an analyst, a writer, and a sounding board. It is not the decider. The accountability for every call still sits with you. Use Claude to widen your thinking, not to outsource it.

Audit trail

Claude Enterprise provides admin audit logs and prompt export. We recommend Enterprise for any CEO whose role exposes them to FOI, regulator, or shareholder scrutiny.

How Yes AI Helps the CEO

Four pillars of every CEO engagement.

CEO-only onboarding session

90 minute session, just you and a senior consultant. We walk through the use cases on a real piece of work currently on your desk. Recorded so you can replay any segment. Most CEOs are productive on day one.

Build your CEO Project

We help you assemble the executive briefing pack templates, your prior decisions and reasoning, your brand voice (drawn from past memos), your key customer profiles, and your strategic priorities. All pinned in a Claude Project that loads automatically into every conversation.

Quarterly CEO check-in

Every 90 days a one hour session to evolve the playbook. New use cases discovered, prompts refined, new Claude features applied to your routine. Continuous improvement, not set-and-forget.

Optional spread to direct reports

When you are ready, we run the same playbook for COO, CFO, CRO, or your function heads. Each gets their own Project, but with a shared executive layer so the leadership team thinks with the same context.

Our 5-Step CEO Rollout

Most CEOs are running independently within 30 days. Embedded in routine within 60.

CEO discovery call

A 60 minute conversation. We map your week, your highest-friction work, the decisions you make most often, and the formats your stakeholders expect. We agree the engagement scope (typically STANDARD or STRATEGIC).

Plan procurement and account setup

Set up Claude Team or Enterprise on the right plan. Configure SSO if needed, security settings, and your CEO Project structure. We brief your IT team on the privacy and security posture.

Build the CEO Project

Two working sessions. We help you load and structure your strategic plan, brand voice samples, prior decisions, key relationships, and 8 to 12 reusable executive briefing templates.

Embed the morning routine

30 days of light coaching. We sit with you (in person or remote) for the first three days to help embed the morning brief, board pack summary, and pre-meeting brief flows. Most CEOs are running independently inside two weeks.

Quarterly review

Every 90 days a one hour CEO check-in. New use cases, refined prompts, brief on new Claude features. Optional: extend the same playbook to your direct reports.
