Multi-location stock is treated as an afterthought

Shopify supports inventory by location, but most connectors push one lumped availability number and hope. If you have a warehouse and three shops, or you want pickup at one location and shipping from another, that single number is the thing standing in your way. Trade pricing does not fit in one price field

The single most common cause of a failed Shopify to ERP project is a variant that does not map cleanly to a part number: same product under two codes, a bundle that exists only in Shopify, or a unit of measure mismatch where the ERP sells by carton and the store by each. We reconcile this first, because everything downstream depends on it.

Every write carries a stable reference

Shopify webhooks can arrive twice, out of order, or be retried after a timeout. Without a stable reference on each write, that becomes a duplicate sales order that gets picked and shipped before anyone notices. Each order, refund and stock adjustment carries an identifier so a repeat delivery updates the existing record instead of creating a second one.

Respect the API limits on both sides

Shopify enforces request limits and your ERP will have its own. A bulk catalogue update run carelessly can throttle the store during trading. We pace requests, use bulk operations where they exist, queue the backlog and test at multiples of your normal volume before a seasonal peak rather than during it.
