Australian business administration

AI support for your tax administration

Bring invoices, reconciliation exceptions and deadline reminders into a reviewable workflow. Keep tax decisions and lodgement approval with the people authorised to make them.

Discuss your workflow

30-minute consultation: free for businesses with 20+ full-time staff; otherwise AUD200 including GST.

Choose an administrative task to improve

Start with an existing process and its evidence. Confirm accounting-system access, document quality and the reviewer responsible for exceptions. A successful import is not proof that a transaction has the right tax treatment.

Capture source records

Extract supplier, date, amount and invoice references into a draft record. Retain the source, flag uncertain fields and check for duplicates before approval.

Prepare reconciliation checks

Compare selected accounting and payroll totals, list differences and assign a reviewer. Record corrections and approval rather than silently replacing source values.

Track preparation and review

Use your confirmed activity-statement due date, an accountable owner and reminders for missing records. Escalate unfinished work and record the lodgement receipt separately.

Agree the boundaries before connecting accounts

Document what the software may read or write, who can approve changes, and how credentials and records are protected. Confirm provider locations, access, retention and backup arrangements for the actual services selected. Test a limited sample with your tax practitioner before expanding the workflow.

GST arithmetic example

Use one consistent reporting period. Enter only sales subject to GST and set the purchase credit percentage using your own reviewed records. The example assumes GST-inclusive amounts with GST at one eleventh. It does not establish eligibility for credits.

This is not a BAS calculation or a payment instruction. It excludes PAYG instalments, adjustments and other obligations. Negative net GST is retained in the arithmetic; it does not establish a refund entitlement.

Questions about the workflow

Can Yes AI lodge my BAS or provide tax advice?

This service scopes software and administrative workflows with your business and tax practitioner. It does not promise BAS lodgement or tax advice. Agree who is authorised to determine tax treatment, approve figures and lodge before any integration is enabled. Check the Tax Practitioners Board register when engaging a tax or BAS agent.

Can AI decide whether a purchase carries a GST credit?

Software can extract invoice fields and suggest a category, but a suggestion is not a tax determination. Mixed supplies, private use, incomplete invoices and adjustments need the relevant rules and supporting evidence. Your authorised reviewer decides how these items are treated.

Which BAS due date should a reminder use?

Use the due date shown for your actual activity statement and confirm it with your tax practitioner. Reporting frequency, lodgement arrangements and extensions can affect timing. A reminder system should record the source date, an owner and escalation steps rather than rely on a static generic calendar.

Will reminders prevent every penalty?

No. Reminders can help staff notice an approaching deadline, but missing records, failed integrations or an uncompleted approval can still delay work. Penalties and any remission depend on the applicable rules and circumstances. Review an actual notice with the ATO or your tax practitioner; software cannot guarantee the outcome.

Must every business keep records only in digital form?

No. The ATO describes both manual and digital record-keeping systems. The records still need to meet the applicable requirements. For a digital workflow, agree readability, retrieval, access permissions, backups and the retention periods that apply to each record type.

Does the calculator produce a complete BAS?

No. It illustrates GST-inclusive arithmetic using the figures and credit eligibility percentage you enter, then adds your entered PAYG withholding. It does not determine tax treatment or include PAYG instalments, adjustments and other BAS obligations. It must not be used as a lodgement amount.

Check the official requirements

Consult current guidance and the details of your own obligation. An old penalty amount or a generic calendar is not a reliable basis for a tax decision.
