The Problems People Bring Us

Almost nobody rings an AI consultant because they want an AI strategy. They ring because something specific is unresolved. These are the situations Australian businesses most often describe on the first call, and what the work looks like in each case.

A pile of vendor quotes and no way to compare them

Every vendor says the same things and every quote is structured differently, so the decision comes down to who presented best. We read the quotes with you, work out what each one is actually committing to, identify what is missing from all of them, and tell you which questions to put back to each vendor before you sign anything.

A pilot that impressed everyone and then went nowhere

The demonstration worked, the enthusiasm was real, and eight months later nothing is in production. This is almost always a process and ownership problem rather than a technology one. We work out what stalled it, and whether the underlying idea is still worth pursuing or is better abandoned honestly.

Staff quietly using AI tools nobody approved

People are pasting customer data and draft contracts into whatever free tool they found, because it makes their day easier and nobody gave them an approved alternative. We help you write a usable policy, choose sanctioned tools, and set boundaries staff will actually follow rather than route around.

Pressure from a board to have an AI strategy

The board has read the same articles as everyone else and wants to know what the organisation is doing about it. We help you produce something defensible: where AI genuinely applies to your operations, where it does not, what it would cost, and what the risks are, in language a board can interrogate.

Knowing the work is inefficient but not where to start

Everyone can name three things that waste time, but nobody can say which is worth fixing first. We measure the candidates against effort, data readiness and the value of the time released, and give you a ranked list with the reasoning shown so you can argue with it.

What It Costs

Consulting is priced up front rather than by the hour, so you know the number before you commit and we are not incentivised to make the work take longer. Three engagement sizes cover almost everything we are asked for.

BASIC

$1,000

One question, answered properly

A focused engagement for a business with a specific decision in front of it. Should we build this or buy it? Is this process a sensible candidate for automation? Is the vendor quote in front of us reasonable? You get a written answer with the reasoning behind it, not a slide deck of generic AI trends.

STANDARD

$3,000

A roadmap you can act on

The usual starting point for a business that knows AI should be doing something for them but does not know where to start. We work through your processes, identify the candidates that are genuinely worth automating, rank them by effort against value, and write the implementation plan. It stands on its own whether we build any of it or not.

STRATEGIC

$10,000

Board level work across the business

For larger organisations where the question spans departments, involves governance and risk, and needs to survive scrutiny from a board or an executive team. Deeper discovery across multiple functions, a staged programme, and the documentation to support the decisions being made.

Initial consultations are free for businesses with 20 or more full-time staff (smaller teams pay $200 including GST). That first conversation is a genuine conversation about your situation, not a scripted qualification call.

Anything we go on to build for you is scoped and fixed-priced separately at the end of the consulting engagement, so you approve a number before work starts. Where the recommendation includes a voice agent answering your phones, that runs on published subscription pricing: Starter at $299 per month plus $499 setup, and Pro at $599 per month plus $999 setup.

How We Work, and What We Will Not Do

Consulting only has value if the advice is independent and the person giving it is willing to say uncomfortable things. Four commitments that shape how we run an engagement.

We talk to the people doing the work

Executives describe how a process is supposed to run. The people doing it every day know how it actually runs, including the workarounds and the spreadsheet that holds it all together. Both conversations happen, and the second one is usually where the opportunities are found.

We put a number on the risk too

Any recommendation is accompanied by what could go wrong: privacy obligations under the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles, dependence on a single vendor, staff resistance, and what happens if the technology stops being available at the price assumed today.

We will not oversell the technology

Some of what is marketed as AI transformation is a better form, a fixed process or a tidier database. If that is your answer, that is what the report says, even though it is a smaller piece of work for us.

We write for people, not for procurement

The deliverable is written in plain English so the operations manager and the board can both read it. No jargon that exists only to make the work look harder than it was, and no vendor acronyms nobody in your business uses.

How Long It Takes

A focused engagement runs one to two weeks from kick-off to a written answer. A standard roadmap engagement runs three to five weeks, most of it discovery and analysis rather than writing. A strategic engagement spanning several functions runs six to ten weeks.

The variable is availability of the people who know how the work really happens. Where we can get time with the right staff quickly, engagements land at the short end of these ranges.

We will tell you at kick-off which end you are likely at, and tell you again if that changes, rather than letting a deadline quietly slip.

Work You Can Ask Us About

We would rather name real engagements than publish invented figures. Reignite Health is an Australian healthcare practice running an AI receptionist we built. Firebox Australia is an ecommerce business whose customer rewards programme we integrated into their existing platform. Nutrition Science Group is an Australian business we have delivered automation work for.

Ask us about any of them on the first call. We can describe what was involved, what was harder than expected and what we would do differently, which is generally more useful than a testimonial.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only recommend solutions you would build yourselves?

No, and the roadmap is deliberately written to be useful whoever builds it. A good share of our recommendations are that an off the shelf product already does the job, that a process should be fixed before it is automated, or that a particular idea is not worth pursuing at all. You are paying for a considered answer, not a sales pathway.

What do we actually receive at the end?

A written document you can act on and circulate: the processes we examined, the opportunities ranked by effort against value, what each would involve in practice, honest estimates of cost and timeline, the risks and how to manage them, and a recommended sequence. Plus a working session to walk your team through it and argue with it.

How much of our time will this take?

Less than most people fear. Expect a couple of hours with a leader who can explain how the business really works, and shorter conversations with the people who do the day to day work, since they are the ones who know where the friction actually is. Most of the effort sits with us.

What does consulting cost, and is the first conversation free?

Engagements are $1,000 for a focused piece of work (BASIC), $3,000 for a standard roadmap engagement (STANDARD) and $10,000 for a broader strategic engagement (STRATEGIC). Initial consultations are free for businesses with 20 or more full-time staff (smaller teams pay $200 including GST).

How long does an engagement take?

A focused engagement typically runs one to two weeks from kick-off to written answer. A standard roadmap engagement runs three to five weeks, most of which is discovery and analysis rather than writing. A strategic engagement across multiple functions usually runs six to ten weeks. Those are honest ranges, and we will tell you at kick-off which end of the range you are likely at.

Are you tied to particular vendors or platforms?

We are not a reseller for any AI platform, so there is no commission steering the recommendation. We work with whatever your business already runs where that is sensible, because replacing systems that work is usually a worse investment than connecting them.

What if the honest answer is that we should not do this yet?

Then that is what the document says, along with what would need to change for the answer to become yes. Recommending an expensive build to an organisation whose data is not ready for it wastes their money and eventually costs us our reputation, which is a bad trade for everyone.
